2011 WELCOME

Hi Everyone!

I want to personally welcome you to our inaugural Michael Chang Tennis Classic!  As you may know, the Chang Family Foundation has been reaching out to the community through the avenues of sports for many years.  Our goals have always been to use these opportunities to create more fellowship and friendly competition all the while trying to touch and impact the hearts and lives of people everywhere.  This year, we’ve decided to try something different by hosting our very own USTA sanctioned tennis tournament!

We’ve brought together some of our long time tennis friends to help us put on a tournament that we believe will be special, memorable and fun for everyone!  And not only that, our tournament will benefit a wonderful cause in the American Red Cross for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief.  We’ve all seen the damage and destruction that has taken place in Japan and our hope is that we can contribute significantly to helping those that have lost homes, jobs and loved ones during this devastating tragedy.

But besides being a charity event, we also want our participants to realize that this is no ordinary tennis tournament!  I will personally be hosting a tennis clinic with some of my professional tennis buddies on July 23^rd and we will not only teach you some of the secrets of the pros but you’ll also have an opportunity to ask some of those questions that you’ve never been able to get answered.  We’ll challenge you to become a better tennis player and include some fun games and drills that will test your skill level.  We’ll have tons of great prizes from some of our sponsors and you’ll even get a chance to measure how fast you can actually serve so come out and be a part of this exciting clinic!

We’ll be playing most of our matches at the beautiful Racquet Club of Irvine so come out and enjoy a fun-filled three day event with us!  Our sponsors will provide some exciting gift bags for all our participants along with the opportunity to experience some of their products and benefits firsthand.  So if you want to become a better tennis player while taking part in an exciting and fun USTA sanctioned event, you’ve got to come and play in my tournament!  After all, tennis is all about building friendships through fun competition.  And what better way is there to do that than by being a part of the Michael Chang Tennis Classic!
